Mawdsley is off to the Euro’s

Newport Athletic Clubs Sharlene Mawdsley will be part of the 24-strong Ireland team heading for the European Indoor Athletics Championships next month.

Mawdsley booked her ticket on the plane following a personal best performance in the 400 metres at a high-class Irish Life Health Elite Athlete Indoor Micro Meet held in Dublin last weekend.

Competing in a 400 metres, Sharlene finished third in a personal best time of 53.56, behind Phil Healy and Sophie Becker, who also achieved personal bests.

All three achieve the qualification standard for the European Indoor Championships which take place in Poland from 5-7 March.
