Green light for major redevelopment of Roscrea school
Tipperary TD Alan Kelly was delighted to announce on Tuesday of this week that a new school is to be built at Coláiste Phobal, Roscrea.
The Department of Education informed Tipperary ETB that it is sanctioning a new-build school, which is to be built on the current site and will be for 800 students. It will also include four ASD classes, which means the total complement of students will be 824. Furthermore, one of the current buildings will house the adult education classes so they have a separate standalone space as well.
Deputy Kelly thanked in particular Coláiste Phobal Principal Michael O’Connor for working with him to deliver the new school. “It’s a credit to him and I look forward to it commencing as soon as possible,” Deputy Kelly said. “This is great news for Roscrea, the staff and future students, as they will have a state of the art school.”
