Fundraising campaign for Killoran Community Centre, Portroe

A GoFundMe campaign has been started with a target of €5,000 for Killoran Community Centre in Portroe.

Chairman of the centre Dinny Hogan is appealing to people to support this worthy cause: “As you can appreciate, in these times it's hard to keep a community centre open in rural Ireland,” he said. “Our main source of income for the old school was our annual play and our card games but, as you're aware, both these have been stopped for the last 18 months. Due to its age, there are always improvements to be done and with no income; we have exhausted all our savings and would greatly appreciate your help.

“There are many families and people who have had great days and nights in Killoran and all our children are treated to Santa and the Nativity every Christmas at the annual party but again this could not go ahead. Our improvements include restoration of floor and chimney breast, upgrading our heating system to comply with insurance, building a store room and general tidy up in the yard and tennis court.

“So, please donate to this great cause to ensure many happy days for you and your kids for many years to come.”
