A range of heritage-related events are planned over the coming days.

Heritage events taking place in Tipp

Next Saturday morning, August 21, as part of research into the Heritage of Farming, the Kilbarron Terryglass Historical Society welcomes Michael Guilfoyle of Carney, to their stall at Lakeshore Community Market in Ballinderry, between 10am and 12.30pm.

Michael will have on display some of the farm implements from the past. There will also be items from the kitchen which played a central part in farming life. The society will also display photos and descriptions of items that have been found in the parish and are now stored in the National Museum, Dublin.

A bonus display will be a few relics from the battlefields of Flanders. And if you have got a taste at that stage for knowledge of your past and wish for more, you can continue to Lorrha on Saturday or Sunday at 1.30pm for guided talks with the very capable duo of David and James of Lorrha Dorrha Historical Society.

Lorrha Dorrha Historical Society are also wished the very best with their heritage weekend, Lorrha Lughnasa, from August 20 to 22.

Part of the themed Heritage Days is ‘Wild Child Day’ on Wednesday, August 18, and to celebrate that, Nenagh Heritage Centre are running an art competition for all children that visits us at Governor’s House, during any day of Heritage Week.
