Mullaney signs on for another year

By Shane Brophy

Bill Mullaney has been reappointed Tipperary senior camogie manager for 2022.

The Ballinahinch clubman will lead the team for the fifth successive year as they aim to take the final step in reaching an All-Ireland Final.

Since Mullaney assumed the role in 2018, Tipperary have been defeated in four successive semi-finals, getting closer to the big 3 of Galway, Cork and Kilkenny on each occasion, particularly this year when falling to subsequent All-Ireland champions Galway. They also reached a National League final in 2020, however it wasn’t played due to Covid-19.

Mullaney’s backroom team remains relatively unchanged with Dinny Ferncombe (Holycross/Ballycahill), Denis Kelly (Toomevara), Carmel Bradshaw (Ballina) and Mary Howard (Cahir).

However, he has managed to add Alan O’Connor as strength & conditioning coach with the Cahir clubman having been involved in numerous All-Ireland successes in minor hurling and football with Tipperary, as well as at club level with Loughmore/Castleiney.
