Driver sustains serious injuries in accident

A man from Nenagh sustained serious injuries in a traffic accident that occurred on the main Nenagh-Cloughjordan Road on last Monday afternoon.

The two-car collision happened at around 4.30pm and one of the drivers was transferred by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick.

Gardaí in Nenagh confirmed that a male in one of the cars had sustained serious injuries. A male in the other vehicle had a lucky escape, emerging from the accident relatively unscathed.

The scene of the accident remained preserved into Tuesday morning while garda accident experts carried out an investigation.

Sergeant Declan O’ Carroll of Nenagh Garda Station has issued an appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the accident to come forward with information.

Separately, Sergeant O’ Carroll has reiterated his call on people to be vigilant regarding phishing scams after a woman from the Nenagh area had €1,000 siphoned from her bank account last week when she interacted with a text from cyber criminals masquerading as her bank.

Elsewhere, gardaí arrested two people on suspicion of drug driving in Nenagh, one last Wednesday and the other on Thursday last. Both drivers were stopped and questioned in the afternoon.

Sergeant O’ Carroll said gardaí were also investigating a number of suspected public order incidents in the Nenagh District, one in Lorrha on Tuesday of last week, another in Roscrea on Friday last and one in Silver Street, Nenagh, in the early hours of Sunday last. A male has been charged in relation to the latter incident.
