Easter Camino for Nenagh walkers

Nenagh Walking Club Camino walkers set out from deep in Portumna Forest Park on Easter Monday, visiting the abbey and castle, then along the high bank of the Shannon River crossing into Co Tipperary, joining the Ormond Way to Lorrha.

Next morning, Easter Tuesday the group visited the Lorrha monastic sites and continued on by the stolen railway to Lackeen Castle and on along the Ormond Way to Ballingarry.

Easter Wednesday saw the Camino walkers on a guided tour of Ballyngarry, then walking on by the Pike to visit a Mass Rock deep in the woods.

Walking on then for a guided tour of Shinrone, then on to visit Mount Saint Joseph Abbey, Roscrea.

On Easter Thursday the Camino walkers hiked the Monastery Esker trail, then walk on to visit Roscrea's historic sites, walking on to Sean Ross Abbey and to our journey's end at Monaincha, once known as 31st Wonder of the World, still known as Holy Island in Roscrea.
