South Tipp Art Group exhibits at Nenagh Library
Nenagh Library is delighted to welcome members of the South Tipperary Art Group (STAG), who will exhibit with us for the months of June and July.
Having started life in 1968 with a small number of enthusiastic amateur artists and art teachers from the local Central Technical Institute in Clonmel, who came together to start an art group for the artists and craftspeople of Clonmel and the South Tipperary region, STAG has since gone from strength to strength, and now boasts members from Waterford as well.
With approximately 38 adult members at any one time in Adult STAG and meeting twice weekly, this artistic and hardworking group have found many outlets for their creativity, with activities ranging from running art courses to organising art trips at home and abroad and, with a core Workgroup, painting murals, sets for shows, face painting and curating exhibitions. Children and young people are catered for by Junior STAG, which comprises 55 members and has been running for 52 years.
STAG are closely involved with the community in south Tipperary, lending their creative and artistic flair to many projects supported by Tipperary County Council including the annual Festival Cluain Meala. The group has close ties too with other cultural organisations in the locality including Clonmel Arts Centre, the County Museum and Clonmel Library.
Despite their strong presence in community life south of the county however, this will be the first time that STAG will exhibit in the north of the county, and so we are delighted to host them. This STAG exhibition will continue for June and July; with the large number of artists taking part necessitating the exhibition being divided into two parts, running over two months. Artwork will consist of oil, watercolour, acrylic, pastel, pour paint and spray street art as well as felting/embroidery/ceramics and photography.
The exhibition will be open to the public during library hours and all artwork on display will be for sale at reasonable prices. So, surely something to suit everybody’s taste.
We hope to see you there.
