Toomevara Camogie are Going to the Dogs
Toomevara Camogie Club have a very ambitious fundraiser planned for Saturday, 9th July in Limerick Greyhound Stadium, which will see hundreds of its club members, both young and old, converge on the night for our Race Night: ‘Toome Camogie are Gone to the Dogs’.
The Club launched the event last Sunday with one player from each team from U6 to intermediate in attendance. The event was attended by the event’s main sponsor ‘A Sportsmans Dream’ and our committed club officers who work so diligently behind the scenes all year round.
This event was the brainchild of juvenile coach David McGrath. An event of this magnitude would not be possible without the help of a most progressive and hard-working committee who have worked diligently behind the scenes to sell tickets, secure sponsorship and market the event for the last few months.
All money raised will be spent on all teams from Under 6 to intermediate, and it will be a huge boost to be able to spend the money on our young and experienced players.
There has been huge goodwill and support for this event with parents, relatives and friends of players reaching deep into their pockets to support us. Local businesses have also supported this event so well and the club are incredibly grateful for this much needed financial support.
This event is kindly sponsored by club sponsor Toomevara & Tipperary Camogie great Deirdre Hughes’s business ‘A Sportsmans Dream’ and the club are very grateful for ‘A Sportsmans Dream’ continued and loyal support.
New Toomevara Camogie Club Chairman and former Ahane player Mike Fitzgerald is under no illusions with regard to what an event of this nature can mean for a club and is keen to acknowledge all of the time and effort that has gone in behind the scenes to bring an event like this to fruition.
“The race night fundraiser will allow us to provide the relevant gear to all our teams and deal with the day-to-day expenses that arise for such a club base,” he said.
“It is of high importance that any relevant equipment is available to develop all our girls and ladies teams. This doesn't come easily and huge efforts are required by a very determined committee and group of people as a whole.”
Toomevara teams are back on the fields and its supporters in the stands and back on the side-lines again. Life is good again and all are eagerly anticipating the night at the dogs on July 9th. They hope as many people as possible can make it as (Toome Camogie are Gone to the Dogs”!!
