The Annual Golf Classic of the local GAA Club attracted a big turnout of golfers to compete for the honours at Nenagh Golf Course.

The CLG Tulach Sheasta Golf Classic was a keenly contested event with competition going down to the wire to decide the winner by the narrowest of margins.

Fifty teams lined out for the classis which was being run as a fundraiser towards the activities of the club during the season, with the prizes generously sponsored.

James Collins, Chairman, Newport GAA Club said: “We would like to sincerely like to thank all of the teams who entered and hope that they all enjoyed the day’s golf. We would also like to thank our main sponsors, Noel Ryan of Sentio, Brian Healy Electrical, Donie Nolan Construction and Mulcair Credit Union and all of our tee sponsors.”

Among those in attendance were Jackie Cahill TD, Ryan O'Meara, John Delaney, Chairman, Mulcair Credit Union, and Tim Floyd, Tipperary County GAA Secretary.

After a very enjoyable day, the team in second place with a score of 103 points were Shane Murphy, Edward Fitzgerald and JP Ryan.
