St Mary’s finally get to play in FAI Schools Final
St Mary’s Secondary School Nenagh head to Athlone today (Wednesday) to compete in the FAI Schools Under 15 Girls Large Schools Cup final.
We might just be in the first term of the new school year, but this match is a carryover from the last school year which was impacted by Covid. St Mary’s won the Munster Final last May defeating Pobalscoil Inbhear Scéine from Kenmare 3-0, before returning in September with an All-Ireland semi-final win over Loreto Convent Kilkenny with Ailbhe Treacy getting the only goal of the game.
Presentation College Athenry in Galway provide Nenagh’s opposition in the final which will be played at Athlone Town FC in Lissywollen with a kick-off at 1.00pm.
The St Mary’s team contains Republic of Ireland Under 16 international Clodagh Daly who skippered her country in recent friendlies against Wales.
