Missing persons searches

At 8pm on Monday, November 14, Killaloe Coast Guard unit was requested to assist in a missing person search in the Rearcross area. The causality had made contact with An Garda Síochána and informed them that he needed medical assistance but was unable to give his exact location. Search teams deployed from Killaloe with 4x4s, an Incident Command Vehicle and the All-Terrain vehicle.

Weather conditions were very challenging as search teams responded and by 9pm the person was located and treated by Coast Guard members until the arrival of the National Ambulance Service (NAS). On being assessed by NAS paramedics, the causality was transported to hospital for treatment. At 11pm all teams returned to base.

The previous weekend, Killaloe-Ballina Search & Recovery unit assisted Clare County Fire & Rescue Service, NAS, Clare Civil Defence, Doolin Coast Guard and R115 helicopter in the search for a missing person in Ennis.

A great day in Killaloe last week for the handover of the first DJI M30T Drones to the Irish Coast Guard, a game changer for Coast Guard land Search teams across Ireland! Coast Guard Drone units will take delivery of the M30Ts over the coming weeks and months.
