Glowing Tidy Town results in Nenagh District

All of the villages in the Nenagh Municipal District that were entered in this year’s National Tidy Towns Competition increased their marks, the district’s administrator, Rosemary Joyce informed local councillors at their November meeting.

Ms Joyce said groups representing a total of 28 locations, including the town of Nenagh itself, all achieved a rise in marks, and 11 villages registered an increase of 10 or more marks. The villages/towns that increased their marks by ten or more were: Ardcroney, Killoscully, Terryglass, Newport, Capparoe, Riverstown/Kileen, Ballinderry, Lorrha, Ballycommon, Carrig and Shalee.

Ms Joyce said the fantastic results underlined the determination of groups all over the district to improve the image of the area and showed the pride they had in their home place.

Congratulating Terryglass on retaining its Gold award, she said she would not be surprised if it again won the competition outright over the next few years. She also congratulated Nenagh on retaining its bronze award and Birdhill and Silvermines on also obtaining similar awards.

Councillors were glowing in their tributes to Ms Joyce for all the work and leadership she had shown in helping groups to maximise their marks in the competition.
