White foam along lake shore

It looked like a row of white snow that spread along the north Tipperary lakeshore of Lough Derg, but it’s not. Locals suspect something much more sinister.

The line of white foam was spotted by people living along the lake in the Timona area near Dromineer on Saturday last.

Declan Collison, owner of the Lough Derg House and The Lake Café in Dromineer, told this newspaper that he suspected the foam to be a manifestation of some type of effluent that had entered the lake.

“It's disgusting, it's everywhere running along the lakeshore from Youghal Bay and around to Ryan's Point. It looks like snow; it stretches for a least a mile long,” said Mr Collison.
