Hogan and King combine at Fairyhouse

Denis Hogan and conditional jockey Daniel King are a partnership to side with and they combined to land the two-mile rated novice hurdle with Henning at Fairyhouse on Wednesday last.

Owned and bred by Robert Hennelly, the 18/1 outsider of the five-runner field led before the second-last hurdle and had enough in reserve to hold the late effort of Eoin Griffin’s One Last Tango by half a length.

Killenaule trainer Julie Cashin and conditional jockey Evan Dwan shared their second Thurles winner this season as Thecornerhouse landed the two-mile seven-furlong handicap hurdle on Thursday.

Successful with Navy Waves at the track in November, they struck this time with an easier winner for punters to find as the John Whelan-owned favourite arrived late on the scene to beat Jimmy Mangan’s Chelsea’s Friend by half a length.

Willie Browne and Seamie Heffernan combined to win the eight-furlong conditions’ race with Stormy Entry at Dundalk on Friday night.

A winner over seven furlongs at the track last month, the three-year-old followed up in battling fashion when holding off the Joseph O'Brien-trained Cash Out by a shorthead.

Trainer Andy Slattery and his nephew Adam Ryan won the opening rated novice hurdle at Naas on Saturday with Sir Allen.

A trip to the Cheltenham Festival for the Boodles Handicap Hurdle might be on the cards for the Eight Star Syndicate-owned four-year-old which battled well to beat the Tom Mullins-trained Morning Soldier by a length. It was a first winner over hurdles for the Killenaule amateur rider.

The mares’ chase at Cheltenham looks an obvious target for the Henry de Bromhead-trained Magic Daze which won the Listed BBA Ireland Opera Hat Mares Chase in great style. With Rachael Blackmore riding in the colours of Robcour, the 9/4 chance made all the running and readily saw off Willie Mullins’ favourite Dinoblue by three and three-parts of a length.
