Shorelines Arts Festival returning to Portumna

As you plan your breaks and invite friends and visitors to Portumna, a great weekend of arts activities is promised from September 14-17.

The new expanded committee of Portumna Arts Group is busy bringing the strands together in visual arts, music, drama, literature and film for the annual Shorelines Arts Festival, a festival that aims to bring to the town excellence in the arts to Portumna as well as supporting and nurturing community and local artists.

Already the Shorelines Film Club is back with full houses so far this season. Collaborations with local schools and community groups are also in the pipeline.

The 2023 committee welcomes Katja Ruppenthal, Ger Shiel and Trish Page on board. Alongside newly appointed chairpersons: Anna Geelan and Breeda O’Connor, secretaries: Kerry Kissane and Peter Martin, treasurer: Lisa Keane and committee members, Grainne Hayes, Jackie Hogan, Dolores O’Shea. The energy and ideas are flowing onto the planning board. Sponsors and Friends of the festival will shortly be invited for their ever generous support.

The visual art sub-committee are delighted to have Jenny Wood-Sullivan, Abby Dillon, Marie Gibbs and Chris Finnerty on board to plan the array of exhibitions at the Irish Workhouse Gallery and Portumna Castle.
