Slevin impresses in UK Darts Open
Dylan Slevin can be pleased with his first major darts tournament appearance in the UK Open last week.
The Borrisokane man, who secured his place on the PDC circuit in January, won three games at the UK Open, held in Minehead last week.
Slevin, nicknamed ‘Oceans’, had just broken in to the world top 100 players, ranked number 99 going into the tournament.
The 21-year-old has been drawn in round one against Maik Kuivenhoven of the Netherlands and easily won six legs to nil with a 94.93 average.
In round 2, Slevin took on world number 86 Shaun Wilkinson and won 6-4 with a 93.64 average.
Slevin was then drawn against Belgium’s Robbie Knops in round 3 and easily won 6-2 with a 84.35 average.
However, his campaign was brought to an end last Friday in round four with a 10-7 defeated by world number 12 Joe Cullen.
After going 6-1 down early on, Slevin battled back but couldn’t overcome the deficit with an 87.94 average.
Despite the defeat, Dylan Slevin, who was 99th in the world ahead of the tournament, will rise in the world rankings following his three wins.
