Borrisokane to celebrate 100th parkrun
Well done to all participants at last weekend’s Borrisokane Town parkrun, especially the five participants with new personal bests: locals Michelle Hogan, Denise Souhan, Karl McLoughney, Ollie McLoughney and Cyril Mulcahy.
A big Borrisokane welcome also to the two first-time visitors to Borrisokane Town parkrun. We also welcomed Eoin Flaherty from Ballinasloe, who is trying to do a parkrun in all 32 counties of Ireland in 2023. He just ticked Tipperary off his list; that's a lovely challenge to have.
Cathal Curley was first to finish and is one of our regular visitors from Galway side; always great to see visitors to Borrisokane for parkrun. Local regular Ronan Daly was just behind him, fresh home from the Lisbon half-marathon; well done, Ronan.
Since Borrisokane Town parkrun started 1,439 people have visited Borrisokane to partake in Parkrun, 194 of whom were in 2023 so far. That is not including locals, but purely people coming to Borrisokane to take part in parkrun, with most staying on for our weekly coffee get-togethers in the Country Kitchen or Fairgreen Cafe.
In this time, 55 volunteers have made sure that this event stays running, for free, forever. Without this level of community activity, events like parkrun would never happen, so thank you. If you would like to get involved, volunteering or to take part in Gaisce, please get in touch through our website https://www.parkrun.ie/borrisokanetown/
We hope to celebrate our 100th parkrun on July 22 – more details nearer the date.
