Local scenes in RTÉ documentary

A programme for RTÉ featuring scenes from Nenagh and Domineer as part of the ‘Decade of Centenaries’ will be shown on RTÉ One on Wednesday, April 26.

Part of the filming for this was done in Banba Square and the lakeside village. Nenagh born Dr Caitlin White, historian, was involved in the filming of this programme locally.

The screenings recalls the story of historical events and Civil War monuments in Nenagh and surrounds and will surely be of interest to local people.

Caitlin is originally from Ballygraigue Road, Nenagh. She is daughter of David and Karen White.

The local scenes and issues featured form a section of a two-part television documentary series, The Silent Civil War, will begins on RTÉ One and the RTÉ Player on Wednesday, April 26.

Based on the testimonies of family members of 80 of those who were involved in the Civil War, the series is produced in association with the National Folklore Collection in UCD and RTÉ Archives.

Over two parts, a team of collectors, researchers and historians gather to record memories of the Civil War that were passed on through families and communities throughout Ireland. The group unexpectedly uncovers a trove of audio recordings with men and women central to the revolutionary period in Irish history.
