Newport College team excels at frisbee tournament

The Newport College Senior and Junior Ultimate Frisbee teams participated in an Ultimate Frisbee Tournament at the University of Limerick.

Upon arrival, the excitement was palpable as the teams competed in round robin pool stages. As each game progressed, both the junior and senior teams exhibited improved skills and applied their training effectively. The senior team displayed remarkable attacking and defensive manoeuvres, scoring impressive points with swift catches and intense speed. The junior team played with remarkable pace, exhibiting great teamwork and excellent scoring abilities.

Following the pool stages, the junior team advanced to the semi-finals where they faced a formidable opponent in Castletroy College. Although initially leading with three scores to one, Castletroy College made a strong comeback resulting in their advancement to the finals. Consequently, the junior team entered the play offs where they faced Educate Together and won with excellent scores from Denis Madden and Ryan Shinners, earning them third place in the competition.

At the end of the tournament, prizes were awarded, including two ultimate frisbees for the spirit of the game - one for a senior player and one for a junior player. Congratulations to Aoife Dunlea (senior player) and Denis Madden (junior player) for their exceptional sportsmanship, teamwork, enthusiasm, and fair play in Ultimate Frisbee.
