Funding to benefit Tipp Garda Station development
Fianna Fáil TD for Tipperary Jackie Cahill has welcomed the decision to speed up the development of the Garda regional headquarters in Clonmel, Co Tipperary.
The Government has announced the approval for the development of new Garda stations in Clonmel and Macroom, Co Cork through direct Exchequer funding.
A new family-court complex at Hammond Lane in Dublin will also proceed as a standalone Public Private Partnership (PPP) project.
Deputy Cahill said: “I’m delighted that Clonmel Garda station has been given the go-ahead to proceed.
“The decision to separate the development of the Garda station from the slower moving Hammond Lane complex in Dublin means the Clonmel site can progress faster. This will help speed up construction of this important project. This is especially important as the station at Kickham Barracks in Clonmel will be a Garda District Headquarters."
Planning permission has already been granted for the station, which will comprise a new 3,630 square metre building on a 0.46 hectare site.
