Praise for Ballycommon Fleadh

The organisers of the recent Fleadh Cheoil Thiobraid Árann in Ballycommon were congratulated at the May meeting of Nenagh Municipal District.

Cllr Ger Darcy said the week-long event drew a great crowd and was a great success for the young people involved. Cllr John Carroll paid tribute to Ned Kelly and all the members of the organising committee. He said the youth orchestra performance in Carrig Church was a particular highlight.

Cllr Séamie Morris wanted the council to write to the Ballycommon committee and praise of the voluntary effort that went into the Fleadh. He also praised businessman Tony Donlan for everything he has done for Ballycommon.

"Who said small villages can't hold events like this?" Cllr Morris remarked.
