Drug seizures made in Nenagh

A number of drug seizures have been made in Nenagh by the Garda Divisional Drugs Unit within the past week.

On Thursday, June 1, members of the unit carried out a search on a premises in the town and uncovered suspected heroin to the value of €830.

Within days of that incident a separate search of a premises in the town led to the seizure of suspected cocaine to the value of €1,000.

Meanwhile, gardaí in Nenagh and Roscrea are investigating a number of thefts, including the unauthorised taking of a car at the Barack Obama Plaza in Moneygall on May 31 and another from Bachelor’s Walk, Nenagh, on Saturday last. A youth was later arrested in relation to the latter incident.

Two recent incidents of criminal damage in Roscrea are also being investigated, one in relation to a car parked in an estate in Roscrea and another to a window of a business premises at Chapel Lane.

Phishing continues to raise its head in the Nenagh Garda District, according to Sergeant Declan O’ Carroll of Nenagh Garda Station, who warned people to exercise vigilance when using their bank cards and when shopping online.

He revealed that a woman in Newport had substantial funds stolen from her bank account when she shopped on a website that subsequently proved to be operated by criminals.
