Water levels critical in Lower Ormond

Cllr Michael O’Meara is appealing to people to conserve water in the coming days by not using water to wash cars, water gardens or use paddling pools.

The water levels are critically low in Lorrha, Rathcabbin, Carrig and the Riverstown areas.

“Supply may be limited or turned off completely,” said Michael, “and as we all know, livestock require huge volumes of water at this time of the year and it can cause distress if supply is limited.”

Despite rain over the weekend, it will still take a lot to bring the water levels back up to what they should be, so please be water-conscious during the summer.
