Fixtures confirmed for North Championship opening games

Hibernian Inn North Senior Hurling Championship: will commence on Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th July. On Saturday 8th, Roscrea and Kiladangan will face off in the first of the quarter finals at 4.00pm in MacDonagh Park, Nenagh. On Sunday 9th, the other two quarter finals will make for a double header in Dolla with Borris-Ileigh facing Kilruane MacDonaghs at 5.00pm whilst Toomevara take on Nenagh Eire Og at 7.00pm. Templederry Kenyons have a bye to the semi-finals.

The semi-finals are fixed for the week after with both throwing in at 7.00pm - one on Saturday, 15th July in MacDonagh Park, Nenagh and the second on Sunday, 16th in Dolla - both games will be part of a double header with the Premier Intermediate semi-finals. The Final is scheduled for the weekend of Saturday 22nd or Sunday 23rd July.

Savvy Kitchens North Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship: will commence on Friday 7th & Saturday 8th July.

On Friday 7th, Templederry will be the venue for the clash of Ballina v Newport with a 7.30pm throw-in. On Saturday 8th, Silvermines will face Burgess at 4.00pm in MacDonagh Park, Nenagh. Both Portroe and Lorrha have byes to the semi-finals.

The semi-finals are fixed for the week, both throwing in at 5.00pm - one on Saturday 15th in MacDonagh Park, Nenagh and the second on Sunday 16th in Dolla - both games will be part of a double header with the Senior semi-finals. The Final is scheduled for the weekend of Saturday 22nd or Sunday 23rd July.

Kelly’s of Fantane North Intermediate Hurling Championship: will commence on the weekend of Friday 14th & Saturday 15th July.

On Friday 14th, Moneygall face Shannon Rovers in Borrisokane with a 7.30pm throw in whilst the next day, Borrisokane face Kiladangan at 7.00pm in Cloughjordan.

The Final is scheduled for the weekend of Saturday 22nd or Sunday 23rd July.

Junior 'A' Hurling League: There was great excitement in Borrisokane last Friday as Roscrea claimed the Denis Carroll Memorial Trophy after a 1-23 to 2-19 victory over Nenagh Eire Og in the North Junior 'A' Hurling League Final. See match report below. Roscrea captain Lee Cashin accepted the trophy on behalf of his victorious side after the game.

Watch Centre Junior 'A' Hurling Championship: commences this Friday 30th June with all game throwing in at 7.30pm. Nenagh Eire Og will take on Roscrea in Borrisoleigh; Kilruane MacDonaghs face Borris-Ileigh in Roscrea while Toomevara and Ballinahinch will face each other in MacDonagh Park, Nenagh.

Watch Centre Junior 'B' Hurling Championship: Group 1 commenced last Friday with wins for Silvermines and Moneygall.

Silvermines defeated neighbours Templederry Kenyons by 3-15 to 2-14 in Dolla with a strong wind being persistent throughout the match. The ‘Mines held a 2-10 to 0-5 half time lead with both goals coming from placed balls (Noel Quirke free and Willie Keogh penalty). Templederry started the second half well scoring three points without reply but a Daniel Ryan goal in the 41st minute brought the Silvermines lead back to eleven points. Templederry did rally in the final quarter, outscoring Silvermines by 2-4 to 0-5 during that period with goals from Paidi Ryan and Micheal O'Leary.

In the second game in the group, Moneygall continued their good form from the league with a comfortable 3-21 to 0-11 win over Lorrha. Anthony Devereux, Jody Troy, and Ger Kirwan were the goal-scorers for the victors.

Both games in round 2 will throw-in at 7.00pm this Saturday. Templederry Kenyons will host Lorrha while Moneygall host Silvermines.

In round 2 of group 2, Kiladangan had a 3-19 to 2-15 win over Toomevara on Sunday in Puckane. Kiladangan made the perfect start scoring 1-1 within the first two minutes with Aidan Ryan scoring the goal. However, Toomevara responded well scoring 1-2 without reply with their goal coming from James Browne. Toome held the lead after ten minutes - 1-5 to 1-3, but Kiladangan then hit a purple patching - scoring six consecutive points without reply. The half time score read 1-10 to 1-8 in Kiladangan’s favour. A Paul Seymour goal in the 36th minute gave Kiladangan a six point lead. Again, Toome responded well replying with three points to cut the lead back to three. A long range Eoin Kelly goal in the 44th minute restored Kiladangan’s six point lead and they went onto secure a comfortable victory. Toome scored a consolation goal late in the game through Tim Flaherty.

Newport and Borrisokane played out a draw on Monday evening in Newport - 1-15 to 2-12. The sides were level, 0-7 each, at half time. Newport scored 1-3 without reply into the second half to lead by six but Borris responded well - scoring a goal with ten minutes to go to bring the deficit back to three. Borris went onto hit the last three points in the closing stages of the game to claim a draw.

Round 3 of group 2 takes place this Saturday with both games throwing-in at 7.00pm - Toomevara will host Burgess whilst Borrisokane host Kiladangan.

In Group 3, Knockshegowna had a 2-17 to 0-16 win away to Ballina last Friday. Ballina enjoyed a 0-11 to 0-8 half time lead. With the aid of a stiff breeze, Knockshegowna started the second half well, scoring an early goal and were the better team throughout the half.

Portroe claimed a two point victory over Nenagh Eire Og last Sunday in Portroe - 0-18 to 0-16. Portroe held a 0-10 to 0-7 half time lead, but Eire Og had the deficit back to a single point going into the closing stages of the game. A Daithi Gleeson free with the final puck of the game secured a two point victory for Port.

Round 2 takes place this weekend. On Friday at 7.00pm, Portroe will host Ballina whilst on Saturday at 7.00pm, Nenagh Eire Og will host Knockshegowna.

Ger Gavin Under 19 'A' Hurling Championship: will commence this Wednesday 28th June with both games throwing in at 7.00pm.

Borris-Ileigh will host Ballina whilst Nenagh Eire Og will host old rivals Toomevara in MacDonagh Park. Roscrea have a bye in Round 1.

The top three teams in the group will progress directly to the semi-finals whilst the fourth and fifth placed teams will take part in a playoff for the remaining quarter final spot.

Ger Gavin Under 19 'B' Hurling Championship: will commence this Wednesday 28th June with all games throwing in at 7.00pm.

In Group 1, Moneygall will be the venue for the clash of Moneygall/Clonakenny v Burgess.

In Group 2, Borrisokane host neighbours Lorrha Rovers whilst Kilruane MacDonaghs travel to Dolla to face Silvermines.

The championship is made up of two groups of five teams with the top team in each group progressing to the semi-finals whilst the second and third placed teams will take part in the quarter finals.
