Spate of burglaries in Nenagh District

Gardaí are investigating a spate of burglaries that have occurred in the Nenagh District, including one at a business premises in Pearse Street, Nenagh, in the early hours of last Sunday morning. They are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area between the times of 3am and 4am to make contact.

Sergeant Declan O’ Carroll of Nenagh Garda Station reports that there has been a rise in burglaries across the district over the last number of weeks. These include one in Ballyhane, Birdhill on June 27, while on the same date a house in Lisboney, near Nenagh, was entered and property taken. Both incidents occurred during the day.

A house was entered on Limerick Street, Roscrea, on July 8 shortly after 11am. Three suspects fled after being disturbed. Meanwhile, a strimmers and leaf blower were taken from a shed at Lismackin, Roscrea, between July 6 and 10.

The Nenagh and Roscrea areas have not escaped a spate of burglaries that have occurred in the Mid West area so far this month. A business premises at Limerick Road and Ciamalta Road, Nenagh, were burgled in the early hours of July 12 and there was a similar incident at a business premises at Stereame, Nenagh, the following night.

Investigations into all these crimes are ongoing and the gardaí are seeking the public's assistance.

Meanwhile, a number of thefts from cars occurred earlier this month in Roscrea. Arising from an incident on July 4, gardaí have arrested one man in his early twenties. He was later charged with six theft offences.

Sergeant O’ Carroll said there was an increase in incidents of public order breaches in the Nenagh District over the past fortnight also. Gardaí responded to a total of 15 incidents in the period.
