New byelaws at lakeside amenity sites

New Casual Trading Byelaws came into effect in the Nenagh Municipal District on June 1.

Tipperary Co Council invited applications from traders interested in obtaining casual trading licences to operate at the designated locations in the new byelaws.

To date, seven applications have been received.

Five licences have now been issued - two for Ballina Riverside Park, one for Dromineer, one for Garrykennedy and one for Castlelough.

The two remaining applications are currently awaiting submission of further information.

The council has also made contact with a number of parties in relation to the establishment of a working group to consider opportunities for developing a market in Nenagh. This will be further progressed in September.

Meanwhile, as a further measure to deter antisocial behaviour in Ballina, the council is proposing to amend the Amenity Area ByeLaws to include provision for on-the-spot fines for people jumping off the bridge in Ballina. This longstanding activity became a problem again earlier this summer and locals have demanded action.

The amended draft bye-laws will be brought to the September meeting of the council’s Nenagh Municipal District with a recommendation that they be put on public display.
