Tractor run stops off in Toome’

Father and son Roy and Colin Kennedy received a great send off from their home in Toomevara on Thursday last when they joined a tractor run travelling from County Meath to Killarney in County Kerry.

The annual charity event featuring vintage tractors sets out every year from the village of Nobber in County Meath and passes through various towns and villages in the country, including Nenagh and Toomevara.

On arrival in Killarney those taking part in the run then drive their vintage tractors around the Ring of Kerry, raising tens of thousands of euro for deserving causes.

This year the chosen charity is Bumbleance, the ambulance service specifically designed for children.

The tractor run stopped off at Roy and Colin’s home on Thursday last for refreshments and the father and son then joined the other participants en route to Kerry.

Colin (21) drove in a John Deere 3130 that he and his father lovingly restored while Roy joined as one of the stewards for the event.

Anyone who wishes to support run and generate funds for Bumbleance can contact Roy on 086-665 8948 to get details of how to make a donation.

The tractor run from Meath to Kerry started in 2009 and over the years has raised over €200,000 for various charities.
