Nenagh AFC 0-2 Aisling Annacotty

Nenagh AFC hosted league leaders Aisling Annacotty last Thursday and produced a battling performance before going down to two late goals.

Scoreless at the break, Nenagh looked like they might get their first point until Richkov Boevi bundled the ball home for the visitors on 80 minutes. With Nenagh chasing the equaliser they conceded again in the final minute through substitute Kieran Jennings.

Newport Town 2-3 Mungret Regional

Newport Town suffered a disappointing defeat when going down 3-2 to Mungret Regional on Thursday at Derryleigh Park.

A couple of injuries inside the opening ten minutes did not help the Newport cause and Pat Aherne struck to give Mungret a half time lead.

After the restart player manager Dave Ryan restored parity for Newport. Cian McNicholas put Mungret ahead but once again David Ryan levelled up the tie. With ten minutes remaining the visitors took the spoils when Aled Harkin struck a fine goal.

Geraldines 2-2 Nenagh AFC

Nenagh AFC got their first point of the season, showing perseverance to earn a share of the spoils at Geraldines on Sunday.

Craig Collopy put ‘Dines in front with an early goal. Nenagh hit back on twenty minutes when Saeed Ryan equalised. Jack O'Callaghan restored the home side’s lead, and they could have added more but for a number of superb saves from Nenagh keeper Aaron Savage.

With fifteen minutes remaining, a free kick from Mark McKenna was not held by the Dines keeper and Saeed Ryan was in like a flash to tuck away the rebound to secure the point.

Fairview Rangers 2-0 Newport Town

An understrength Newport Town travelled to the Fairgreen on Sunday more in hope than expectation and while they matched their opponents for the most part, ultimately left empty handed.

Scoreless at the break, Shane Duggan struck twice in the second half to seal the points for the home side.

Lower Leagues

In Division 1B, Roberto Ipsalat and John Butler were on the mark for Nenagh AFC ‘B’ but they fell 3-2 to Parkville. In the same division, Conor Brett and Jamie Kavanagh scored for Newport Town ‘B’ at Corbally but they also lost 4-2.

On Saturday, Newport Town ‘B’ and Wembley Rovers shared two goals and the points. Conor Brett scored for the home side, Diarmuid O'Callaghan replied for Rovers. In Division 3B, Nenagh AFC ‘C’ and Lough Derg share top spot with Corbally. Nenagh didn’t play but Lough Derg beat Caherdavin 3-1 thanks to goals from Daniel Fogarty (2) and Adam Stuart.

Youth Leagues

Pike Rovers proved much too strong for a young Lough Derg side, but the Tipperary side bounced back admirably to take the points in their clash with fellow county side Newport Town. David Goode scored twice for the winners in a 2-1 win.

In the Under 17 League Division 1, Lough Derg are in joint second place following a couple of wins this week.

A double from Oisin Rowan saw them take the spoils in a 2-1 win at Regional United and they followed up on Sunday with a 2-1 win over Corbally.

In Division 2, Nenagh AFC posted a 4-1 win at home to Corbally United. Ryan Clifford (2), Daniel Connolly and Brian Tracey were on the mark for Nenagh and on Sunday, goals from Daniel Connolly (2), Ryan Clifford (2) and Caleb Byrne secured another three points at home against Summerville.
