Christmas Day Swim to go on!

One of the most eagerly anticipated local events of the Christmas season is the annual Christmas Day Swim at the Two-Mile-Gate. Last year’s event raised over €22,500 for Boher Community Development Group and glowing tributes were paid to the McGrath brothers, Christy and Paul, and to the late Brendan Ryan, who kept this tradition alive for almost four decades. Their unwavering commitment greatly enriched our Killaloe-Ballina community, supporting local clubs, local schools, Family Resource Centre and many deserving causes.

There was an element of sadness on Christmas Day 2022 as the McGrath brothers felt that it would be their last event. However, the next generation of McGraths have stepped forward to continue the good work of their father/uncle, and the 2023 Christmas Day Swim will be organised by Jonathan, Christopher and Roisín McGrath at the Two-Mile-Gate. This event will be dedicated to raising essential funds for local Mental health Services within the Killaloe-Ballina Community and Resource Centre.
