‘Something we will never forget!’
Winning two All-Ireland titles in three days is something we will never forget, said Stephane Browne, founder and owner of Musical Theatre Academy Nenagh following the group’s victories last week.
A total of 125 students from the academy travelled to the O’Reilly Theatre, Dublin, on Thursday last to compete at the All-Ireland Variety Show.
Hopes were high going into the event as the academy also won a national title at the same competition last year.
This time around they performed event better. The academy’s Senior competition team were crowned ‘All-Ireland Variety Show overall National Champions’ on Thursday night.
They also won Best Senior Drama Group, Best Senior Vocal Group and academy member Caroline Kennedy was named as Best Senior Vocalist.
Their Junior competition team had great success too, winning Best Junior Vocal Group.
A HIGH NOTE
The Nenagh Academy’s Senior Competition team then competed at the ‘Show Choir Ireland’ National Championships on Saturday in the same venue and were crowned ‘Show Choir Ireland National Champions’ on Saturday night as well as winning best choreography.
“Becoming All-Ireland Variety Show Overall Champions as well as Show Choir Ireland National Champions in the space of three days is beyond unbelievable,” Stephanie told The Guardian. “Winning two All-Irelands in three days is something we will never forget. It’s a dream come true.”
