Further growth for Birdhill firm

New centre in Edinburgh

A Birdhill-based construction equipment company has announced further expansion of their operations in the UK with their latest development, the opening of a new centre based in Edinburgh.

McHale Plant Sales, based at Annaholty, Birdhill, second UK depot outlet, and which is located at 13 West Telferton Industrial Estate in Edinburgh, has positioned the firm to enhance their service to their UK customer base.

The recent development follows their appointment as UK distributors for Finnish-made Metso mobile crushers which came into effect last April, with the Birdhill-based McHale Plant Sales reporting ‘steady progress’ on the sales, staffing and operational fronts.

Designed to place the company even closer to its Scottish user base, the new outlet will operate in lockstep with McHale’s new UK headquarters on the Lichfield Road Industrial Estate in Tamworth, Staffordshire which began operations just months ago. Functioning as a parts supply store and as a UK-wide customer contact and communications centre, the Edinburgh unit will be managed day-to-day by newly recruited Louise Hunter - Scottish born and with an extensive knowledge of Metso products and of its UK-wide customer base.

In addition to premises at Tamworth and Edinburgh, in the few months since their appointment, the company has made senior appointments in sales, service and parts stores management and secured major sales to customers in locations as widely spread as London, Cornwall, North Wales and Yorkshire.

Business Development Director, Darragh O’Driscoll said: “We will move forward aware of the challenges ahead in building our team in Tamworth and Edinburgh, primarily through appointments in technical and customer support roles, and by intensifying our contacts with Metso owners throughout England, Scotland and Wales.”
