50 callouts for Killaloe Coast Guard in 2023

Killaloe Coast Guard deployed ground and water teams at the Christmas Day Swim at the Two-Mile-Gate.

The ground team on the shoreline provided any assistance that it deemed necessary, while the crew on its eight-metre RIB monitored swimmers during the event.

2023 has been a very busy one for our local unit with a total of 50 callouts up to last week, an increase of six on the 2022 figures. Six of the callouts involved the recovery of six deceased people.

Do remember that if you see someone in difficulty on our rivers, lakes, or hill-walking, you should call 999/112 and ask for the Coast Guard.
