Mobile phone driving numbers a 'worry'
A four percent increase in driving while holding a mobile phone offences in Tipperary this year has been described as worrying.
The December meeting of Tipperary Joint Policing Committee was informed of 596 offences this year, up from 575 in 2022. Chief Supt Colm O'Sullivan said he was "worried" about this increase. Anyone using a mobile phone while driving had to be distracted from the road ahead of them, he said.
Martin Browne, TD, agreed that the number of mobile phone detections was a "worry".
