New council houses for Nenagh and district

Tipperary Co Council is planning to build more houses in Nenagh.

The January meeting of the council was informed of a plan for 14 units at New Line Road, and 13 units at Millersbrook. Both schemes are Stage 1 approved with a design team to be appointed.

The meeting was updated on a series of other housing schemes at various stages as part of the council's ambitious 2022 - 2026 Housing Construction Plan. In Nenagh town, these include 27 units at Gortlandroe, 12 at the former Rialto cinema site and seven at William St. A development of 10 new homes at Woodview Close is substantially complete, while contracts are being finalised for a further 19 turnkey units at Springfort Meadows.

A Capital Advance Leasing Facility (CALF) application is awaited on a large development at Tyone, where the Respond approved housing body is to provide 67 units.

Elsewhere, council housing plans are in train for Puckane (21 units), Gantly Road, Roscea (16); Mulcair Manor, Newport (10); Main Street, Templemore (23); Glencarrick, Roscrea (46); Glentarra, Roscrea (two); Church Street, Templemore (two); Grove Street, Roscrea (nine); Borrisoleigh (12) and Ma Chaoin, Templemore (13).

Recently completed schemes include Portroe (14), Glencree, Newport (eight) and Ardcroney (four).
