Productive meeting on Thurles Bypass
Thurles TD Jackie Cahill organised for a productive meeting with the Minister for State at the Department of Transport, Jack Chambers today to discuss the progression of the Thurles town bypass.
Tipperary’s Government TD organised for a Thurles delegation to meet with his Fianna Fáil colleague in the Department of Transport this afternoon, Minister Jack Chambers. The delegation included Jackie Cahill TD, Cllr Seamus Hanafin, Cllr Jim Ryan, Pat Hayes, Kieran Linnane, John Butler, and John Nolan (Tipperary County Council).
Speaking following the meeting, Deputy Cahill said: “I was pleased to organise for the Thurles delegation to meet with my Fianna Fáil colleague, Minister Jack Chambers in the Department of Transport to discuss the inclusion of the Thurles Bypass in the next review of the National Development Plan.
“We had a very productive meeting and the unanimous view of the Thurles delegation was that a bypass is absolutely essential for the town for both road safety and commercial reasons.
“I am delighted that Minister Chambers committed to working very closely with us during the National Development Plan review, so that we have the best chance possible of securing the inclusion of the Thurles Bypass in the NDP.
“It was clear that the case for the Thurles Bypass was overwhelming and I am very pleased with today’s productive meeting. I would like to thank Minister Chambers and his staff for organising today’s meeting and presentation, and I would like to thank the delegation for attending with me.”
