Class of 1988 reunion

Over 35 years have passed since the Leaving Cert class of 1988 sat their exams.

The amalgamation between the Convent of Mercy and the Christian Brothers had taken place just three years earlier, and now that the classes were mixed there was no need to look over the wall that had once divided the two schools. Thankfully, many of the relationships formed during those school days have stood the test of time and over 50 of them showed up for their recent reunion in Murphy’s.

Such was their eagerness to attend that they travelled from America, Nova Scotia, Saudi Arabia, London and every corner of Ireland. Sadly, the group lost nine of their classmates in the interim and on the night Lorraine Quinn, Dearbhla McClean, Caroline Sweeney, Rachel Bourke, Paul Giles, Joe Brennan, David Nolan, Jim Callanan and Brian Hanley were all fondly remembered.

The group also raised €2,820 through donations on the night in aid of North Tipperary Hospice. Well done to all involved in organising a fantastic night.
