High numbers have been presenting themselves with a variety of complex needs.

Record numbers at Tipp hospital

The Emergency Department (ED) at Tipperary University Hospital is currently experiencing increased presentations. Management at the hospital is asking members of the public to only attend in the case of a genuine emergency. Management would also like to remind the public of their alternative treatment options:

•Their local GP

•Caredoc out of hours service.

•The Injury Unit in Cashel. (The Injury Unit located in Cashel is operational Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm)

Management and staff in TippUH are asking people to think about all their care and treatment options and keep the ED services for patients who need them most.

The Emergency Department has been under continued pressure with high numbers presenting with a variety of complex needs . However, if members of the public are seriously injured or ill, or are worried that their life is at risk, the ED will assess and treat them as a priority.

Staff and management are working to prioritise the discharge of patients as soon as possible, where appropriate.

Management and staff at TippUH apologise for any inconvenience caused and thanks the public for their patience.
