Clough’ heritage series
Cloughjordan Heritage Group were delighted to welcome Professor Helen Sheridan from Trinity College Dublin to the Thomas MacDonagh Museum recently for their latest presentation in the Peatland Community Engagement Scheme funded ‘Voices from the past breathe loudly’ series.
Helen's presentation was about ‘Unlocking Nature’s Pharmacy from Bogland species’ and in her role as Professor in Natural Product Science at the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SoPPS) at Trinity College Dublin (TCD) she is involved identifying the potential therapeutic and commercial uses of native Irish bog plants, distinctive bog waters and the microbiome of unique bogland species.
The final presentation in the local heritage series will take place at 8pm on Wednesday, March 20, and will be a film from Northern Ireland Screen Digital Film Archive, ‘Whose land, Bogland’. The series of talks has been kindly funded by the National Parks and Wildlife Service and the Dept of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.
