Founded fourteen years ago, Nenagh Cricket Club has steadily grown, not just in terms of its membership but also in its impact on the local cricket scene. This past season Nenagh Cricket Club showcased a stellar performance that left both fans and opponents in awe. The team's journey was marked by a series of impressive victories and noteworthy individual achievements.

Season 2023’s runner-up, the Club's Division II team has experienced a remarkable journey, clinching victories, displaying exceptional teamwork, and exhibiting remarkable consistency throughout the season.

Captain Vimal John Mathai has led the squad with strategic brilliance, they navigated challenging matches with a blend of planning acumen and exceptional skill, securing crucial wins that propelled them up to the top of the league standings.

The team's ability to adapt to different game situations and deliver under pressure was a testament to their resilience and dedication. Star players like Jomy Joseph and Sreenivas Maniappan played pivotal roles in the team's success, consistently delivering standout performances. Vimal John’s explosive batting and Sri Teja’s precision bowling became defining elements of the club's winning formula. Securing a mid-table finish, the Club's Division I team encountered the ebb and flow of competition, facing both triumphs and challenges. Throughout the season, key players like Naveen George (hit a scintillating century in the semi-finals of T20 competition), Sreehari Vinobaji and Cinulal Varickatharappel demonstrated moments of brilliance, contributing significantly to the team's successes.

Basil Kuriakose produced a spell of the season, claiming six wickets for a miserly score of 27. CRICKET SEASON

The cricket season runs from mid-April to mid-September, with league and cup competitions organised for different groups. The games are played across various venues - Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Clonmel etc.

Nenagh Cricket Club was the Munster Minor Cup winner in 2012 and runners-up in 2011, 2013 & 2015.

One of the club members Aaron Cawley has gone to play in the Inter-Provincial Trophy and was named in Ireland's squad for the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.

Nenagh Cricket club has also been conducting an annual All-Ireland Tennis ball tournament for the last eight years.

Off the field, the club has actively engaged with the community, organizing coaching clinics for aspiring young cricketers, and participating in local charity events. The players actively participated in local charity events, leveraging their platform to make a positive impact beyond the boundary ropes.

Last year the club conducted a basic cricket training session at Nenagh CBS as part of the Active School week. This was highly appreciated by the students and faculty members.

This holistic approach to success, both on and off the field, reinforced the club's reputation as a force for good in the community.

A fundraiser event was conducted by Nenagh Cricket club at the local Dunnes Stores which exceeded all expectations, leaving the organizers, patrons and beneficiaries alike with a sense of pride and gratitude.

Nenagh Cricket Club have seen a steady increase in the number of new people trying the sport recently, which will enable Nenagh to field three teams this season in Munster Cricket Union - Division 1, 2 & 3 leagues respectively.

As they gear up for the upcoming season, the club are actively seeking partnerships with businesses that share their values and would like to support the growth of cricket in Nenagh.
