Allianz Hurling & Football Leagues

Our senior hurlers played Limerick in Round 4 of the Allianz League Division 1B last Saturday evening in SuperValu Pairc Uí Chaoimh. In what was a good game of hurling, Tipperary fell short in the end by the narrowest of margins, 3-16 to 0-26.

As a result, Tipperary, now head to Antrim next Saturday knowing that they need to secure a win over the hosts and hope that other results go their way so as to secure a place in the semi-finals. Throw in is at 3.00pm in Corrigan Park. There have been eighteen previous meetings between the sides and Tipperary won them all, including last years meeting in Belfast, 4-28 to 2-16

Also, on Saturday evening, the Tipperary senior footballers will have home advantage when they play Wexford in Templetuohy at 6.00pm. Having had a poor league campaign so far, everyone concerned will be hoping for better fortunes on this occasion.

As always, supporters are reminded that tickets for both games next weekend must be purchased in advance either from the GAA website or in selected Centra and Supervalu stores across the county. Tickets will not be on sale at the venue and there will be no tap and go or cash accepted at the turnstiles.

Munster Under 20 Football Championship

Our under 20 footballers will be the first of our teams into championship action when they play Limerick this Friday, 15th March at 7.00pm in Fethard Town Park. Under the management of Niall Fitzgearld and his management team, the players have been preparing diligently over the last number of months for this game and they will be hoping to start the year on a winning note.

National Substance Use Webinar

A National Substance Use online webinar will take place on April 22nd. The module aims to provide information to GAA units on drugs and alcohol, their effects and where to get help. GAA Healthy Clubs can also sign up for Substance Use Information Workshops.

In October, more than forty facilitators were trained to deliver Substance Use ‘Explaining Drugs and Alcohol’ workshops. The workshops were developed as a joint initiative between the GAA Community and Health Department and Regional and Local Drug & Alcohol Task Forces.

It is a requirement for clubs to have a substance use policy in place prior to training take place.
