Return of the Cappamore Show
The 68th Cappamore Show will take place on Saturday, August 17, with plenty of entertainment lined up for all the family to enjoy.
There will be a host of free-of-charge children’s entertainment, including face painting, pets corner (featuring a large selection of rare and exotic animals, and farmyard animals), bouncy castles, and Joe the Magician, all right at the heart of the field.
Other entertainment will include food, craft, small business marquees and stands displaying goods for sale and/or information. There will also be side shows featuring Water Zorbs, Pauline Hynan Dancers displaying their talents, and the Field Fest music and dancing - bring your dancing shoes!
Look out also for the archery display, Murroe Scouts demonstrations, Doon Men’s Shed display, tug of war demonstrations, Clydesdale Mare and Foal, Droimeann Cattle display. Irish Maols and Dexters will also be on display, along with sheepdog trials/demonstrations and a blacksmith demonstration.
ANIMAL SHOWING
Over 70 classes on show with nine different breeds and commercials over six rings.
Special features: Limousin Breeding Heifer Final; South Western Simmental Club Championships; Bonny Baby Calf of the Year; GVM All Ireland Beef Championship - €2000 prize find; Aldi-ABP Irish Angus Calf Qualifiers; Angus Tréad na hÉireann; Continental Breeding Heifer.
Generous prize money in all classes.
There will also be over 20 showing classes for horses, mares and foals, and pony classes catering for IPS members and non-members.
And there will be a pet dog show with 16 classes available to cater for man’s best friend. Many interesting, fun classes, including class-six legs and the best dog and owner! There will be special classes for children and four qualifiers - including the All-Ireland Gundog Championship and the All-Ireland Irish Native Breed Dog Championship, as well as the trophy for the Champion of the Show.
And, back again following the success of last year, goat classes and showing.
FOOD AND CRAFTS
This year's show will feature numerous agricultural produce/fruit & vegetables/flowers classes, both in adult and children sections, to cover all gardeners’ green fingers.
Adult Cookery and Craft: Over 50 classes covering all cakes, breads and jams. Numerous craft classes covering all crafts imaginable, including items made from recycled materials.
Children’s Cookery and Crafts: A wide variety of classes to cater for gifted little hands. Classes are divided into different age groups. Check out their healthy lunch boxes, artwork, needlework and craftsmanship.
Art and Photography: Check out our classes for senior citizens, adults and children. The children’s section covers computer design, art and painting, not forgetting their skill behind a camera.
Finally, not forgetting those Bonny Babies in two classes (under 1 and under 2). Note also that The Green Village is going ahead again at this year's Cappmore Show.
