Parkrun homecoming in Borrisokane

Last Saturday saw another fantastic parkrun, but a very special one for some visitors. Carl Dickinson and her family were visiting from London, tracing their roots. Carol's father Christopher Dunne from Kilbarron had moved to London many years ago and this was Carol’s first time returning to visit the family and see where her relatives had come from.

Carol and her family are regulars at Bushy parkrun in London, which is actually where the global movement started many years ago and sees attendees in the thousands making the pilgrimage every Saturday. They were delighted to see a parkrun in their father's hometown.

Carol was accompanied by her husband, Jonathan and two grown-up children, Ben and Emma. They caught up with some of their long lost cousins, who are regulars to Borrisokane Town parkrun, Warren, Alice and Liz Gleeson, as well as Carmel Forde.

What a great day to reunite family through parkrun.

Parkrun is a free 5km walk-jog-run every Saturday at 9.30am. Visitors always welcome and we even have dedicated welcome marshals and tail walkers.
