Bodies found near Nenagh and Newport
Gardaí have ruled out foul play in the discovery of the bodies of a male and female near Nenagh and Newport in recent days.
The body of a man in his 60s was recovered from the lake at Youghal Quay on Sunday morning. His death is not being treated as suspicious.
Gardaí were also investigating the discovery of the body of a woman in her 40s at a house in Killoscully on Tuesday of last week. It is understood that the woman lived alone and may have been dead for several days before her body was found. No foul play is suspected in her death.
Meanwhile, two people were hospitalised following a road traffic accident between Nenagh and Portroe at Ballycarrido last Sunday. It is reported that both have since been discharged.
Gardaí are also investigating a number of thefts from cars at Clonalsee, Nenagh, between Wednesday and Thursday last. The public is advised to stay vigilant over these kinds of incidents.
Earlier in the week, on Tuesday local gardaí were accompanied by customs officers in carrying out a series of searches in the Nenagh district. A quantity of suspected cannabis was seized with a value of €650, subject to analysis. Gardaí seized several mobile phones while customs officers inspected a number of cars. Investigations into the matter are continuing.
