Cleanup in Garrykennedy

Members of Lough Derg Sub Aqua Club took part in another lakeside amenity area cleanup last week.

Divers accompanied by boat and shore support recovered a large volume of rubbish from the water at Garrykennedy. The items ranged from glass and plastic bottles to cans, boating equipment, fishing equipment, cooking utensils, tyres, carpets, clothes and an iPhone. The owner of the phone is welcome to contact us if they want it returned.

The rest of the rubbish was removed by Tipperary Co Council. This was the second cleanup organised by Lough Derg SAC this year following another successful operation at Dromineer in April. Thanks to all involved. It has been a busy month in general for the club with weekends away diving shipwrecks in Cork Harbour, and at the South East Dive Rally at Hook Head, Co Wexford.
