Kelly is doing All-White in New Zealand

The son of a former Nenagh AFC player has played a key role in helping New Zealand reach a soccer World Cup.

Keegan Kelly won the 'Golden Boot' at the Oceania Under 19 Championship recently which saw New Zealand qualify for the FIFA Under 20 World Cup in Chile next year.

He also scored a goal for the New Zealand Under 23’s to help them qualify for the Olympic Games but missed out on selection for the final squad.

Keegan is the son David Kelly who was captain of the Nenagh AFC in the 1990's when they won the Munster Shield. David emigrated to Australia where he met and married a New Zealand lady and moved there where they had three sons, one of whom, Keegan is playing internationally football for New Zealand.

Keegan has also secured a sports scholarship to Denver University in the United States of America and where he will be studying sports physiotherapy.

He now plays his club soccer with Flatirons Rush in the US.

His grandfather is John Kelly who used to own the Miners Rest pub on Silver Street in Nenagh, and his grandmother is Mary Kelly from Shamrock Court.
