History talk on Ballina steamer

On this Wednesday, August 21, Killaloe-Ballina Local History Society will host a talk and walk, commencing from outside Killaloe library at 7pm.

This Heritage Week event, Our Sunken Treasure, will be led by Maighréad Hourihane, who has researched our most sunken treasure, The Lady Lansdowne. This boat was the most majestic of river boats plying its trade up and down the Shannon that came to an untimely end in 1867-68 when it was beached in the shallows just north of the Lakeside Hotel.

All are welcome to attend this free event.
