7 Camogie All-Star nominations for Tipperary

The nominees for this year’s PwC Camogie All Star Awards, alongside the nominations for the PwC GPA Players of the Year have been announced.

Senior champions Cork have a total of twelve nominations, which recognises the talented players who made extraordinary contributions to the season, made up of goalkeeper Amy Lee, defenders - Pamela Mackey, Izzy O’Regan, Laura Hayes, Hannah Looney & Laura Treacy, midfielders Aoife Healy and Ashling Thompson while Saoirse McCarthy, Amy O’Connor, Orlaith Cahalane and Katrina Mackey were selected in attack.

Galway, who made a triumphant return to the All-Ireland Senior final this year, three years after climbing the Hogan steps themselves, follow closely behind Cork having received eleven nominations, including goalkeeper Sarah Healy, defenders - Dervla Higgins, Rachael Hanniffy, Roisin Black, Ciara Hickey, Aine Keane, midfielders - Aoife Donohue, Niamh Kilkenny, and forwards Carrie Dolan, Niamh McPeake and Niamh Mallon.

National League champions Tipperary, who narrowly missed out on a place in this year’s senior final after their one-point defeat in the semi-final to Galway received seven nominations with Eimear Loughman and Caoimhe Maher in defence, Karin Blair at midfield with Róisín Howard, Clodagh McIntyre, Karen Kennedy and Eimear McGrath in attack.

Semi-finalists Dublin with four players recognised for their contributions in helping Dublin to their first semi-final in seven years this season with defenders Emma O’Byrne and Claire Gannon and attackers Aisling Gannon and Aisling Maher on the shortlist.

Last year’s All-Ireland finalists Waterford received two nominations, after their efforts this year saw them reach an All-Ireland Senior quarter-final in goalkeeper Brianna O’Regan and forward Beth Carton.

The PwC GPA Camogie Senior Player of the Year nominees include two players from Cork in Saoirse McCarthy and Laura Hayes up against Galway’s Aoife Donohue.

The PwC GPA Camogie Intermediate Player of the Year category features two players from champions Cork in Lauren Homan and Emma Flanagan and one player from runners up Kilkenny, Danielle Morrissey.

The PwC GPA Camogie Premier Junior Player of the Year category sees champions Tipperary represented by Jenny Grace up against Laois duo Clodagh Tynan and Aimee Collier.

The 2024 PwC Soaring Stars and Manager of the Year winners will be revealed on Tuesday, 24th September.
