‘Teddy’ joins Killaloe Coast Guard representatives at the launch of the Little Blue Heroes fundraiser in Killaloe-Ballina last week.

'Teddy's' trek through Tipp

On Tuesday, September 24, gardaí from the Clare/Tipperary Division and further afield, have joined forces to raise money for the Little Blue Heroes, a charity that supports families with children who have serious illnesses.

The gardaí will transport their official mascot ‘Teddy’ as they cycle and run for Teddy’s Trek over three days, starting in Carrick-on-Suir and ending in Kilkee. The aim of this event is to highlight and promote the charity and the extraordinary work it does with children who are undergoing long term treatment for serious illness.

This fundraising event was officially launched in Killaloe-Ballina last week when our local councillors and Killaloe Coast Guard were joined by members of the Little Blue Heroes Foundation; Chief Superintendent Aileen Magner; Superintendent Alan Cullen; Clare County Council Chairman, Councillor Alan O’Callaghan; Mayor of Tipperary, Councillor Declan Burgess.

On the second day of the Trek (Tuesday, September 25), the participating gardaí will travel from Thurles to Killaloe – details of approximate arrival times through towns/villages en route will be given this week.

Fundraising will be via participant sponsorship, bucket collections, and a dedicated iDonate page at https://www.idonate.ie/fundraiser/Teddystrek2024.
