Easier done than said for James

New song from Nenagh musician’s debut album

‘Easier Done Than Said’ is one of the 12 tracks on James McGrath's debut album, which was released last Friday.

Written by the Nenagh man along with Scott Volkerding and Ralston Wells, ‘Easier Done than Said’ beautifully portrays a classic relationship dynamic where one partner embodies the strong, silent persona, emphasising actions over words. The essence of true love shines through in this song, capturing the unspoken emotions and complexities that often define such relationships. Its heartfelt lyrics and captivating melody resonate with listeners, reflecting the depth of emotions and understanding present in genuine love stories.

The reality of easier done than said is one that resonates with a large percentage of the population. So often words are not adequate or the right words never come to mind... That’s when it’s time to take action and actually do something, rather than try to say something.

‘Easier Done Than Said’ is a tribute to those whose actions always speak louder than their words.

MUSICAL JOURNEY

Music has always been a part of James‘ life from the time he was a young child. He was brought up around many talented musicians; his father Hughie played and toured in several bands, inculding Ebony.

James' songwriting abilities and lyrics stem from a lifetime of ups and downs just like most folks go through, and he has an immense talent for writing relatable songs for a significant portion of the population. On his musical journey, James was fortunate enough to foster a close personal relationship with one of his musical heroes and personal inspirations, Shane MacGowan.

James left Ireland and headed to Nashville in 2023 after the covid pandemic had sidelined his earlier plans. While in Tennessee, he linked up with newly-formed Shamrock Entertainment Group and has since released a single that debuted in Ireland at number one in the iTunes top 100 chart.

His debut album, entitled ‘Can’t Get Out’, was released on September 13. It was produced at Middlewalk Studios, Cloughjordan, by the immensely talented Peter Maher.

In the past 12 months, James’ musical journey has had him playing shows in Sweden, the UK, Ireland and several stops in the United States, including Nashville, New York City and headlining a show this past March in Orlando, Florida.
